Step 1: Choose the right ground coffee (grind size and roast)

Choose an espresso grind (particle size between 400 and 500 microns) and a well-roasted coffee. This is essential for producing an aromatic coffee with body and crema. At the supermarket, look for the word “espresso” on the packaging. For guaranteed results, use CAPS’ME ground coffee: ground to 400 microns, 100% Arabica, roasted in Strasbourg.

Step 2: Measure out and pack with the CAPS’ME shaker

Insert your reusable capsule into the shaker’s compartment. Pour your ground coffee into the top compartment, slide the capsule into place, and shake vertically. The patented mechanism measures out approximately 5 g of coffee and tamps it to the right density—cleanly, without making a mess—in less than 15 seconds. No spoon, no tamper: the right density is guaranteed every time for optimal extraction.

Step 3: Place the lid made of compostable paper**

Apply a CAPS’ME paper seal to your capsule like a sticker: it sticks easily and stays in place perfectly. The seal breaks under the machine’s pressure at just the right moment, allowing the pressure to build properly and releasing the body, aromas, and foam into your cup. Step 4: Insert it into your machine and start the extraction

Insert the refilled capsule into your machine exactly as you would an original capsule. Close the lever and start your usual brewing cycle. Step 5: Remove, rinse, and put away

Espresso grind size: the key factor for the right intensity: The grind size directly affects extraction. Under the pressure of a capsule machine, water passes through the coffee very quickly: only a fine grind (400–500 microns, espresso-style) creates the resistance needed to properly extract the aromas. A grind that is too coarse (filter, French press) results in a watery, thin coffee—this is the most common mistake made by new users of reusable capsules.
