CAPS'ME lids are made from compostable paper¹ and are manufactured in France. They perform exactly like the original lid: they build pressure perfectly, create a dense foam, and preserve the aromas.

What is a paper lid, and why is it essential? The lid is the least visible part of the reusable capsule system. Yet it’s the component that has the greatest impact on the quality of your cup. Here’s why.
The role of the seal in extraction: what happens under pressure: When your Nespresso® Original* machine begins extraction, it builds up pressure inside the capsule. It is this pressure that extracts the aromas, oils, and compounds responsible for the body and crema. The seal plays a specific role in this mechanism: it must maintain the pressure for as long as necessary, then yield at the right moment to allow the coffee to flow into your cup. A seal that yields too quickly or too easily does not allow this pressure to build: the result is a flat coffee, lacking body and crema.
Cornstarch, made in France: the exact composition: Our lids are made from compostable paper¹, manufactured in France using cornstarch paper. This material was chosen for three reasons: its ability to withstand the pressure of extraction without disintegrating prematurely, its complete safety when in contact with hot water and coffee, and its compostability at the end of its life. No aluminum, no plastic: only plant-based paper, safe and natural.

A compostable material breaks down naturally under standard composting conditions, leaving no toxic residues.
Our lids made from compostable paper¹ can be disposed of in a home or industrial compost bin after use. They break down along with the coffee grounds: a truly zero-waste solution from start to finish, from filling the capsule to disposing of the used lid.

How it works
How do you use a paper lid on your reusable bottle cap?
Four simple steps. It takes less than 5 seconds to apply the lid.
Step 1: Fill your capsule using the CAPS'ME shaker
Insert your stainless steel capsule into the CAPS'ME shaker. Pour your ground coffee (espresso grind, 400 to 500 microns) into the upper compartment. Close the lid and shake 2 to 3 times. The patented mechanism automatically measures and tamps your coffee in 15 seconds. The capsule is now ready to be sealed.
Step 2: Place the paper lid
Take a seal out of its packet. Place it on the top edge of your bottle cap, with the adhesive side facing down. Press lightly all around the edge to ensure even adhesion. The seal must be centered and adhere securely all the way around. No air bubbles, no lifted edges: this will ensure proper pressure build-up.
Step 3: Load it into your machine and remove it
Insert the capsule into your Nespresso® Original* machine just like a standard capsule. The machine pierces the seal with its needle, and the brewing process begins. The seal maintains the pressure until the perfect moment, then releases to allow the coffee to flow. The result in your cup: an aromatic coffee with a dense, creamy crema.
Step 4: Remove the used lid and rinse
After brewing, remove the capsule, peel off the used filter, and toss it in your compost bin. Rinse the capsule under hot water for 10 seconds. It’s ready for your next cup of coffee.
💡 Handy tip: Store your bottle caps in their original bag, away from moisture. A damp or warped cap won't seal as well and may prevent the pressure from building up properly.

Are these lids compatible with my machine?
Our paper capsules are designed to work with Nespresso® Original machines or L'Or Barista®.
They are not compatible with systems that use a different capsule format (size, hole, pressure). To avoid any mistakes, please make sure your machine is set to the Nespresso® Original* system (not Vertuo).
These capsules are not compatible with Nespresso Vertuo®*, Nescafé® Dolce Gusto®* , or Senseo® machines .
